Controls

NextSketch controls can seem pretty complex but you'll get the hang of them.

The 2 fundamental units of the Sketch are the Node and the Link. Speaking of Nodes let's spawn a new one. Make sure the NextSketch Tool Window is focused and press 't' on your keyboard.

It's a wild node! Lets try moving it around.

Nodes can be anywhere on your canvas, the can be moved by single selecting them with the left mouse button (don't drag!). Now the Node will be locked to your cursor.

Move it anywhere and place it down when you're done by left clicking again. Nodes are no fun by themselves. Diagramming is all about the relationships between the components in the software. That being said, let's learn about Links!

Links connect Nodes together. You can create a Link by right clicking a Node and selecting from the different types of Links available.

A Link will follow your mouse from the selected Node. Attach it to another Node by right clicking it.

If you selected Link, then that'll be the end of it. However, selecting a Text Link or Arrowed Text Link will show the following box. Type the text you'd like for the Link and press Enter to finish.

You can also create bends in the lines by pressing the Spacebar as the Link follows your mouse.

You can also delete Nodes by selecting them and pressing Delete on your keyboard. For Links, you can wave your mouse around them until they're highlighted (they turn red). Then, simply click delete.

In the next page, we'll talk about the Inspector. See you there!
